    Company emails and metadata - The Data Protection Authority's guidance document


    Last Dec. 21, the Garante per la protezione dei dati personali (Garante for the protection of personal data) adopted the guidance document “E-mail management computer programs and services in the work context and metadata processing.”

    The document imposes timely obligations on employers in relation to the collection, use and storage of metadata by e-mail management computer programs and services in use by employees.

    But what is metadata and what is the content of the obligations imposed by the Guarantor?
