ADVANT Nctm is taking a further step forward in the digital economy with the launch of its Digital, Tech and Data department.
The new department is an integrated and highly-specialised practice dedicated to technological innovation, artificial intelligence, telecommunications, cybersecurity, the data economy and the regulation of emerging technologies, including cutting-edge fields such as quantum technologies, robotics and the space economy. Its aim is to support businesses and public authorities in their digital transformation processes and in navigating the evolving European and international regulatory landscape, combining the firm’s established expertise with that of the leading professionals who have recently joined ADVANT Nctm.
The department is led by partnersPaolo Gallarati and Raffaele Giarda. Paolo Gallarati continues to drive the development of the firm’s practice in the digital economy and telecommunications sectors, while Raffaele Giarda – who joined ADVANT Nctm last July – further strengthens the firm’s standing through his extensive experience in the telecommunications, media and technology sectors, as well as in the regulation of digital infrastructure.
Working alongside them are of counsel Edoardo Raffiotta – who recently joined the firm to strengthen its offering in digital regulation and artificial intelligence, drawing on his extensive experience in academic, professional and institutional settings – and Antonio Corda, whose extensive managerial experience in the telecommunications and digital sectors supports the department’s strategic development.
The project also builds on the firm’s established expertise in the digital economy and telecommunications, developed over the years by Paolo Gallarati together with counsel Marco Cappa and Giulio Uras, professionals with significant experience in digital regulation, privacy and cybersecurity, with partnersVittorio Noseda, Carlo Grignani, Jacopo Arnaboldi and Marco Cosa also contributing their expertise in the telecommunications and information technology sectors.
The Digital, Tech and Data initiative has been launched against the backdrop of a rapidly evolving regulatory landscape, marked by the entry into force of legislative measures such as the AI Act or the launch of proposals such as the DNA (Digital Network Act), as well as by the implementation of EU regulations on data, digital resilience and cybersecurity.
This evolution is making an integrated approach to technological, regulatory and data management issues increasingly crucial. According to ISTAT, in 2025 the adoption of artificial intelligence by Italian businesses doubled, but almost 60 per cent of companies cited a shortage of skills as the main obstacle to investment, while over 47 per cent pointed to regulatory uncertainty as a factor holding back investment.
“The launch of the Digital, Tech and Data department represents a further step in ADVANT Nctm’s development strategy. We will continue to invest in specialist expertise in the sectors that are transforming the economy, in order to offer clients multidisciplinary support capable of anticipating market and regulatory developments”, said Paolo Montironi, Senior Partner at ADVANT Nctm.
“The digital economy is redefining industrial models, markets and rules across all industrial sectors. This is why businesses need expertise that is increasingly integrated across the fields of law, technology and business. With this department, we are consolidating a growth path that enables us to offer clients an increasingly comprehensive service in an area set to have a far-reaching impact on their operations”, commented Paolo Gallarati, partner at ADVANT Nctm and co-head of the department.
“The TMT sector and digital infrastructure are undergoing a period of profound technological and regulatory change. The launch of the department responds to the need to provide businesses with highly specialised and integrated expertise on issues relating to telecommunications, connectivity, digital infrastructure and the technology ecosystem, within an increasingly complex and constantly evolving landscape”, noted Raffaele Giarda, partner at ADVANT Nctm and co-head of the department.
