    Expertise

    Riccardo Sallustio primarily focuses on banking and finance law. His expertise includes green, transition and sustainable finance, leveraged finance, debt restructuring, private placements, bond issuances, and real estate finance.

    He regularly advises lenders, private equity funds, credit funds and distressed funds on financing transactions, private debt deals and domestic and cross-border bond issuances. He also assists investors in the structuring and execution of acquisitions of non-performing and UTP exposures, debt-to-own transactions, and debt restructuring transactions, including in the context of distressed M&A deals involving real estate assets and industrial businesses.

    He also has significant expertise in green and sustainable finance, advising on the due diligence of transition and ESG components and related methodologies, as well as on matters concerning the structure of transition, green and sustainable financial and banking products (in accordance with international standards and the EU Taxonomy), greenwashing issues, and the development of social and governance best practices. He contributed to the drafting of the Sustainable Finance Action Plan for the Italian Government in 2021, as well as to the development of standard clauses for sustainability-linked loans and standard corporate purpose clauses for the articles of association of companies committed to achieving decarbonisation objectives (Net Zero targets) for The Chancery Lane Project (TCLP). He also contributed to the drafting of the Italian law standard documentation for Private Placements included in the Loan Market Association’s (LMA) “Guide to Transition Loans”.

    Since 2021, He has been Adjunct Professor of Green and Sustainable Finance at the LUISS Guido Carli Graduate School in Rome. He is a speaker at international conferences on sustainable finance and private credit. He is also a member of the European Association of Environmental and Resource Economists (Venice) and an Academic Member of the European Corporate Governance Institute (Brussels).
